Amy and her parents believe they will wake on a new planet, Centauri-Earth, three hundred years in the future. But fifty years before God Speed’s scheduled landing, cryo chamber 42 is mysteriously unplugged, and Amy is violently woken from her frozen slumber. Someone tried to murder her. Now Amy is cought inside a tiny world where nothing makes sense. Godspeed’s 2,312 passengers have forfeited all control to Eldest, a tyrannical and frightning leader. And Elder, Eldest rebellious teen age heir, is both fascinated by Amy and eager to discover whether he has what it takes to lead. Amy desperately wants to trust Elder. But should she put faith in a boy who has never seen life outside the ship’s cold metal walls? All Amy knows is that she and Elder must race to unlock Godspeed’s hidden secrets before whoever woke her tries to kill again
This book! Oh my gosh. It’s so amazing. Words can not describe how i am feeling! I really couldn’t get into it right away. And, i was wondering what the hype of this book was all about. Then, when i got to the parts with Elder, and the ship, it started to get more interesting.
This book is so much different than books i usually read. There were no vampires, werewolves, or immortals in this book at all! Just normal people, but in the future.
Amy’s parents are going to be Cryogenically frozen for 300 years, and brought to a new planet. While Amy is frozen, her chapters explain how she feels about her dreams, and how she misses earth.
I really like the characters, and how the author betrayed these characters. They’re very strong and likeable. I didn’t find myself hating any of them except Eldest.
Now, Eldest is the leader of the ship. I didn’t seem to think he was that bad of a man until Amy started discovering he was playing with the water supply to drug the people aboard the ship. I also didn’t like how he was much of a dictator, and thought that everything he was doing was right. Eldest is the leader before Elder, who is another main character in this story.
Elder is 16, and the next leader of the ship after Eldest. He is a character i found myself liking throughout the whole book. Great personality, and very sensitive when he meets Amy.
Amy is a 16 year old girl from Earth, which the people on Godspeed call ‘Sol-Earth’ people are frightened by her when she walks around the ship. And Eldest lies about what she’s actually there for. She discovers the truth on Godspeed, and wants to change them. I like her character, how she isn’t afraid to take control and do what is right.
Harley is Elder’s best friend. Much older than he is, roughly in his 20′s. He is a painter, and helps Amy and Elder try to find out who killed all the frozen people.
It is really hard to describe this book because i loved it so much. I have nothing bad to say about it..except one thing.. SPOILER: I didn’t like when Harley committed suicide. It made me really sad. I liked his character a lot.
All in all, this book deserves 200/5 stars haha…alright, 5/5 (:
